Gretchen Halpert is the founder the Scientific Illustration Distance Program. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design/ CE, Gretchen has many years of experience working as a scientific illustrator and as an instructor of natural science illustration.

The Scientific Illustration Distance Program is composed of four 10-week sessions and includes a ten-week internship or independent study project. The internship gives students the opportunity to work with professionals, develop contacts, and learn how to navigate the freelance world. Gretchen assists students with planning, writing contracts/agreements, and developing projects that benefit both student interns and mentors.
